Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior official said the attack left him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
